BLADDER NECK INCISION (B.N.I.)
This information is intended to help you, your family, and your friends as you prepare for surgery. It can also help you plan your self-care weeks after you leave the hospital. Blasto Cervical incision (BNI) and urethrotomy are performed on men with bladder neck or urethral strictures that reduce urine flow and urinary problems.
Using an anesthetic gel for lubrication, a telescope instrument called a laparoscope is inserted through the urethra. The bronchoscope is obstructed by an irrigation fluid that helps clear vision and drains blood. Then, a small laser or a cutting instrument is passed through the scope to make an incision in the bladder neck (B.N.I.) or urethrectomy (urethrectomy). With a B.N.I. Two cuts are usually made in the bladder neck, through the prostate tissue, at about 5 and 7 o’clock.
