Using an anesthetic gel for lubrication, a telescope instrument called a laparoscope is inserted through the urethra. The bronchoscope is obstructed by an irrigation fluid that helps clear vision and drains blood. Then, a small laser or a cutting instrument is passed through the scope to make an incision in the bladder neck (B.N.I.) or urethrectomy (urethrectomy). With a B.N.I. Two cuts are usually made in the bladder neck, through the prostate tissue, at about 5 and 7 o’clock.

In urethrotomy, a single incision is usually required through a band or band of narrowing scar tissue. These incisions remove the narrowing and obstruction to your urine flow.
